FAQ & Support

Questions? We've got answers.

The most common things people ask about FormMate UK — answered clearly and honestly.

No — FormMate UK is not a law firm and we don't provide legal advice. We're a practical guidance service that helps you understand what paperwork you need to do in the UK, based on publicly available, official information. If your situation requires legal advice, we always recommend consulting a qualified and registered immigration solicitor or adviser.

Every guide is based on official UK government sources — GOV.UK, NHS.uk, HMRC, and relevant legislation. We review all content regularly and update it when official guidance changes. Each guide shows its last-reviewed date. That said, we're a small team and mistakes can happen — if you spot something wrong, please contact us immediately and we'll fix it as a priority.

No — we don't fill in forms on your behalf. We guide you through the process step by step, so you know exactly what to write and where. This keeps you in control and ensures the information is correct. Premium Co-Pilot members get access to ready-made letter templates they can customise.

We never sell or share your personal information. The free plan requires no account or data at all. If you create an account, your data is stored securely and used only to provide the service. You can request deletion of your data at any time. We operate under UK GDPR and use minimal, essential cookies only.

No. All task guides and checklists are available for free with no account required. The Premium Co-Pilot plan (£9/month) adds features like saved progress, personalised paths, letter templates, and priority support — but you can get a lot done without it.

Absolutely. In fact, many people arrive in the UK and then spend their first few weeks (or months) catching up on admin. Our Task Library is designed for any stage of your UK journey — whether you landed yesterday or you've been here for six months and still haven't sorted your council tax registration.

Yes — and it's a great idea to prepare in advance. We have a "Before you arrive" section in our Resources & Guides that covers what to sort before you land. You can also browse the Task Library to understand what you'll need to do once you arrive, so you're not caught off guard.

Our guides cover the most common situations. For straightforward cases — standard visas, NI Number, GP registration, bank accounts — we'll cover everything you need. For more complex situations (visa refusals, overstays, unusual work arrangements, right to remain questions), we'd always recommend getting professional legal advice alongside using our guides as background information.

When you set up a Premium account, we ask you a few quick questions about your situation — are you a student, a skilled worker, arriving with family, self-employed? Based on your answers, we create a personalised checklist of the tasks most relevant to your situation, in the recommended order. It takes about 2 minutes and saves you from scrolling through everything yourself.

Premium Co-Pilot includes a library of ready-made, professionally written letter templates you can customise with your own details. These include letters to request council tax exemption, letters to landlords about tenancy deposits, letters to employers requesting NI Number processing, and letters to universities for student discount evidence. New templates are added regularly.
